Flappy Bird game seemed like a popular hit that was on top of the
charts before its creator and founder
Don Nguyen pulled it off line. In December 2013 Flappy Bird topped the charts
of 1,500 free games in the United State and quickly spread to the rest of the world.
The technology was very easy but the idea was brilliant. At its peak it would
give earnings of $50,000 from adverts of the game. He launched an android version on January 2013
and within no time it hit the charts as No. 1 and stayed on top until February
2013 when Nguyen decided to pull it off the web stating that it was distracting
his simple life.
The rise of Flappy Bird placed Nguyens upcoming company named
Gears Studios at the center of attention. People became extremely addicted to
touching and tapping their screens to direct the bird through pipes all day.
This made Nguyen feel guilty for making a game that made people to be distracted
in their work and falling victims of Flappy Bird game addiction, Such that he
decided to pull it off the download
site so that people would stop further downloads. In his tweet Nguyen
said that he is planning to make a new game so as to the people forget about
Flappy Bird.
Clones of Flappy
Bird have risen to take over the success of Flappy Bird. Three months after
Flappy bird’s closure, clones of the game are still popular in top download
charts. For Fanatics of the
Flappy bird game Nguyen says he plans to launch a revised version in the month
of August that is inclusive of a multi-player feature. The new game to be
released will have modern graphic features and added characters and he also
claims that it will be not be addictive like Flappy Bird; it will have features
that will make users pause between games.
