London Pubs named after Famous People


If you have ever visited the city of London, you may find innumerable pubs commemorating dukes, kings, queens, lords, marquises and admirals. We have even left out some of the places with different types of famous dedicatees, such as two famous pubs have obtained their names after Alexander Fleming and Charles Dickens. However, you may find several other popular pubs as well as restaurants named under some of the famous personalities belong to different parts of London.

Firstly, hotel and pub of Canary Wharf has named itself as Henry Addington Canary Wharf. Henry Addington was one of the UK Prime Ministers belong to 19th century. This great personality has given his contribution towards building of some of the incredible Martello towers across the coast of Britain for warding off invasion of Napoleons. After this, you may find another popular restaurant named Betjeman Arms located near King’s Cross. The restaurant owners have chosen the name for paying regards to one of the renowned Poet Laureates named John Betjeman.

John has also obtained his recognition as the campaigner for saving some of the historical buildings, like St Pancras Station, where you may likely found his pub as well as statue. Other than this, you may find the pub dedicated to one of the filmmakers named Michael Balcon located in Ealing. Lastly, owners of Richmal Crompton in Bromley have dedicated the restaurant to famous author named Richmal Crompton.
